Sourdough September is Real Bread Ireland’s annual educational outreach month. For culture night Bretzel Bakery’s owner, William Despard, and some of his team will be on hand to demystify the art of baking sourdough bread. The starter, also called mother dough, will be examined, and the culture of baking real bread for 5000 years & the healthy “gut” cultures containing good bacteria explained. Free packs of our champion starter culture will be available on the night. The effort and passion that is involved to produce artisan award winning food will be evident; all visitors will taste the magic of the best sourdough bread in Ireland, 2020 Sourdough Gold Medal, paired with best artisan Irish Gourmet Butter from Waterford and a variety of local gold medal jams & relishes.
