This workshop will explore the possibilities of print through the process of dry point. This is a wonderful introduction to printmaking where you will learn to design, engrave and ink an image to create an edition of prints. Participants will have the opportunity to design, transfer, and engrave an image onto acetate sheets which we will ink and print to create an edition of prints.

Join historian and author Paul O’Brien as he tells the story of this little know graveyard in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.
He will take you on a unique tour of the (almost) last resting place of Robert Emmet and generations of Dubliners – commoners, businessmen, captains and privates… even sons of Kings.
This is a story of religion, grave robbing, poverty and sickness and is a must for all interested in the history of Dublin itself.

An outdoor journey through the dreamy landscapes of IMMA, Night Shift is a late-night event challenging our circadian rhythm and our common experience of visiting an exhibition. This slow experience of touring the IMMA Grounds in a land train will bring participants through the landscape where sited histories and Collection works will be framed by some eerie interventions along the way. Night Shift is inspired by a drawing made in the 19th Century of a night guard at Kilmainham asleep during their shift, they have a note in their hand which reads ‘ENNUI’, in the composition the guard dreams out fanciful scenarios taking place on the Grounds. This project has been developed as part of IMMA’s A Radical Plot Residency Programme.

European Dream was developed from a performance in London in 2009 and is the starting point and title for a body of work by Rolfe. This is a significant performance of Rolfe’s not just in terms of the scale and ambition of the installation that accompanies the performance, but also because of the directness and the weight of the artist’s subject. In this work the artists recalls a previously all-embracing and terrifying vision for Europe which in 2021, the year the work was purchased by IMMA, may be seen as prophetic as we experience a European reality in which cohesion and unity are ever more challenged and global forces are unpredictable in this new pandemic world.
